The founder of Butoku-kan, Taketo Okuda trained for many years and in turn formed great karatekas, if not the most important in the Shotokan style. Since he arrived in Brazil, his mission was to train great fighters to fight and win great challenges, including competitions and championships. Even forming big names in modern karate, Okuda Sensei had the recognition of few karatekas. Therefore, in all its history, there were only two disciples that the Founder of Butoku-kan, Taketo Okuda, conceived and found worthy of merit, to carry this "Yellow and White Flag" called Butoku-kan, because it was not just a name, but a Legacy or a "Philosophy of Life" too deep and complex to carry forward.
The two disciples chosen throughout this history with more than 50 years of Butoku-kan, were Diego Fort and Seiji Kaduoka. Right at the beginning of his career, Taketo Okuda had the great Diego Fort as a student, who, in addition to his size, his Samurai warrior spirit has always been the most remarkable.
Diego Fort came to Brazil and began his journey in 1978, training with Mestre Okuda intensely and tirelessly for many years, creating a great bond of respect and consideration with Taketo Okuda. After training and more training, approximately two years later, in 1980, Diego inaugurated the first Butoku-kan in Uruguay with the approval and permission of the Founder and Master Taketo Okuda.
Since then Sensei Diego Fort began his path teaching all that Philosophy that Butoku-kan has as its main objective, for a new generation of Uruguayan Karate athletes, thus forming new disciples. Sensei Diego was developing and growing more and more to the point of realizing that only one Butoku-kan would not be enough to serve the whole country, so he forged new disciples so that they could carry forward the teachings of our Master and Founder Taketo Okuda.
Sensei Diego Fort is the Chief Instructor and General Coordinator of all Butoku-kan in Uruguay, not only coordinating but also training and giving courses in other cities. Currently across Uruguay there are seven branches of Butoku-kan each in a different city in the country.
